Priyanka Reddy- another name, another case…
Priyanka reddy was brutally raped, assaulted and burnt alive to death. Md. Pasha, Naveen, cleaner Keshav, and an assistant named Siva raped her again and again. This all happened on Wednesday 27th of November. The accused saw Priyanka Reddy parking her scooty and devise the plan to rape her. Naveen punctured the rear wheel of her scooty which was parked there. The prime accused Pasha approached on the pretext of getting the scooter fixed. Another accused Shiva took her scooter, on the pretext of getting it repaired, and came back after some time and told her that all the repair shops were closed. The accused then raped her who died because suffocation because they had covered her mouth and nose while committing the crime. They then wrapped the dead body in a blanket and took it to Shadnagar and burnt the body. And just like that her burnt lifeless body was found thrown away near the street.
According to UN statistics compiled from government, it says that almost 250,000 cases of rape or attempt to rape are recorded by police annually. Out of them, 24,923 rape cases were reported across India, which translated the miss happenings every day! Whereas on the other hand, in the U.S., 1 in 71 men had been raped or suffered an attempt rape within their entire lifetime. In India, 18% of Indian adult men surveyed reported being coerced or forced to have sex. Then we have child rape cases, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse. Almost 7,200 minors, 1.6 in 100,000 minors are raped each year in India. Recent estimates suggest that rape conception happens between 25,000 and 32,000 times each year in the U.S. Women, men, children, infants, older people, and even animals have been subject to rape each day. On July 29, 2018, a pregnant goat was gang-raped by eight men in Haryana. On July 17, 2018, a 35-year-old man was arrested for having sex with the dog.
A normal day in India starts with 26 years old Priyanka Reddy gang raped by four men and burnt alive in Hyderabad.

She was a doctor, a daughter, a sister and a soul whose dreams to fly high got shattered in just few minutes!
It has been 7 years to the gut wrenching Nirbhaya case and our moral fabric continues to be in pieces.
Do you know that 90% of sexual assault is committed by repeat offenders? And less than 10% of all crimes will be ever reported. Unlikely that even repeat perpetrators will be ever reported. Only 6% of reports reported to the police ends up with the assailant spending only a single day in prison, which means that there is a 99% chance for the perpetrators with getting away with it. And this is what we needs to stop.
How many parents happily declare that they had been blessed with a baby girl? Who is asked to leave her studies so that the parents can afford her brother’s education? Who is married to serve manhood? Who is not allowed to wear what she wants? Who is restricted from stepping out of home? Who is sold in the name of dowry? Who was burned in the name of sati? And now one last question; who are the ones to bring you in this world? Yes! It’s a woman. And then we say women are weak. Are they? A survey conducted reveals a darker side of the society which suggests that 1.3 billion people think that women are the soulless whose presence or her body parts are useless and they pretend as if it doesn’t exist!
It takes few minutes for a person to rape a woman after seeing her. But have we ever seen any judgement passed within minutes after the rapist confess to the crime? How many people penalized with death penalty hanged yet? It took almost 7 years for Nirbhaya’s rapist to get a death penalty when her dignity and life was crushed within a night. Why do we have such slow justice system?
In 2004, it was the first incident in India’s history where 200 women together killed a rapist in an open courtroom. Please girls stand up, I am not saying kill them yourself- but at least fight back. And I want all the good men out there to act. I know not all men are the same, there are people who want to help and who want to change. It’s the time, stand up and help your mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and anyone in need fight back. Let’s stop the delaying dates of justice and hang the rapist now! Stop the marches, stop the protests and the struggles, let’s fight together as a country and for god sake get rid of this evil. Because next time it could be your mother, daughter, sister, wife or maybe me. Please just stop!
