Datta Ram Patil: a true hero!
Coronavirus has brought the whole world under lockdown. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi had too announced a 21 day lockdown in the country. Many cities in India have been severely hit by the pandemic among which Mumbai had crossed the infected toll for more than 300. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country, by coronavirus outbreak. More like an epicenter of India. The state has reported six deaths and over 300 COVID-19 confirmed cases as of now. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has jumped to more than 1300 with 27 deaths.
As India tries to struggle through a 21-day lockdown- scarcity of eateries, little or no access to medicines amongst elderly and hoarding of essentials are some of the demanding situations that the nation is facing all together. Many people from every nook and corner of the country are coming forward to help those in need by providing them with the needed supplies. It is tremendously heartwarming to see citizens from different monetary strata coming ahead to help others in such a distressing time. One such inspiring individual is a farmer from Nashik, Datta Ram Patil, in Maharasthra who has donated wheat from his farm. This is his story.
Datta Ram Patil distributing free wheat during corona-crises in India!
When the whole country is under lockdown this man has proved a hero for the poor. Datta Ram Patil, a small farmer from Nashik is distributing wheat harvested from one acre of his three acre land to the needy.
“I am a small farmer. We’re not financially stable but if we have 1 chapatti then we can give half to others who are in dire need” Datta Ram Patil said in a report by ANI.
Datta Ram Patil is receiving a tremendous response from all over the country for his generous effort. He also received appreciation from the Office of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, who tweeted, “Only Humanity can assist us win the war! Thank you Datta Ram Patil Ji for this.” Patil has taken whole twitter on shock by becoming the number one trending with almost 11,000 appreciation tweets!
“We owe a debt of gratitude to farmers like Datta Ram Patil who go out their way to feed others during such crises, even when they aren’t rich themselves.” Tweets, Shama Mohamed of AICC.
While, the Covid-19 cases has risen from more than thousand in the country, a total of 1397 cases have been reported so far, 124 have been discharged/cured and death toll due to COVID-19 rises to 35. Delhi cases have risen to 97, while 47 have tested positive in Madhya Pradesh. The Government of India has recognized 10 “hotspots” across the country in which an unusual transmission of the ailment (covid-19) has been detected. These places are Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin in Delhi, Noida Meerut, Bhilwara, Ahmedabad, Kasargod, Pathanamthitta, Mumbai and Pune. Hence, it is very much evident that the situation in India hasn’t been great lately.
Leaders from across the world are taking excessive and giant measures to prevent the virus overtaking the entire population. In such a situation it also becomes the responsibility of the people as well to support each other and face the pandemic together. Lockdown however is an extreme method, but to fight covid-19 – lockdown is the only method.
