We have a vast sea of such sites offering best services at best rates possible, but often the story behind such success gets lost. Among the leading giants of online shopping one is LimeRoad. The 46 year old- Suchi Mukherjee is the founder and owner of online marketing site “LimeRoad”. LimeRoad is an online portal for women and men clothing, accessories, shoes and home decor. Here you can share, discover and buy the products you want to. It attracts around 50 thousand people daily. But this fame didn’t came overnight.

In 1998 Suchi began her career. The first company Suchi chose to work in was Lehman Brothers Inc. as their new Senior Associate for Corporate Finance. After she gained the desired knowledge, she decided to move to “Virgin Media” as a Director for Change & Business Development in 2003. She was also the member of their Consumer Division Management Team. After working there for more than 2 years she quit Virgin Media and joined “eBay”. The journey for LimeRoad began after she gave birth to her second child in London. She was reading a magazine and came through a really pretty accessory which she wanted to buy but didn’t knew how. She also realized that there was no place from which one could access the vast array of great products that was being manufactured and shipped out of South-East Asia, the world’s manufacturing hub. That’s when she thought of the idea of creating a web portal where women can discover, share and buy desirable products. When everything was clear she flew back to India. Finally, LimeRoad was launched in 2012. At first she only started with women wear but today has men’s wear as well. Interestingly, it has a unique concept of 100% user generated content which is created by its scrapbooking community and is exclusive to LimeRoad which means that everything you find here are produced by scrapbooking community only. There were plenty of unrecognized vendors who were not able to put their stuff across their targeted users. Through this app, Suchi connected that unrecognized sector with the customers. It is an amazing portal for latest trends and lifestyle. Mrs. Mukherjee has been one of the most inspiring women since then.

She got additional help because at that time India accounts for 21% of lifestyle products manufacturing in the world. Her aim was to simply bring all the vendors who produce high quality and affordable products under one roof. She also took help from her friend Ankush Mehra, Head of Supply Chain, Reliance Hypermarkets, to know more about this business. The sight is particularly different from others because it involves marketing of the products by the consumers only. The fact that it uses visual scrapbook to create your own look is uniquely creative and appealing. And if you are not so creative, then LimeRoad offers you feeds and other people scrapbooks to help select the best products for yourself. Through Lime Road she bridged the gap between the commodities and customers.

In 2015 Suchi Mukherjee was awarded with Woman of the Year – Digital Business and in 2016 with NDTV Unicorn Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Not only has that she also signed a MoU with the government of Madhya Pradesh to give local handicrafts a national presence. Suchi is another woman who came out of the blue and build the space that every women dreamed of.
